Museum of Chinese in America Oral History Archive Project

The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) Oral History Archive is a digital collection of recorded interviews that preserves the voices and stories of Chinese Americans across generations. The archive documents lived experiences spanning immigration, community life, cultural identity, and historical events — from the gentrification of New York's Chinatown to the aftermath of 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organized into thematic projects, the archive covers a wide range of subjects: food, fashion, performance, neighborhood change, and the complex intersections of race and identity. It serves as both a community memory project and a scholarly resource, allowing users to browse by project, people, and subject. Together, these oral histories reflect the richness and diversity of the Chinese American experience in New York City and beyond.
